📖 About the Right to Information Act, 2005

The Right to Information Act, 2005 was enacted by the Parliament of India to provide for setting out the practical regime of right to information for citizens. The basic object of the Act is to empower the citizens, promote transparency and accountability in the working of the Government, contain corruption, and make our democracy work for the people in real sense.

Citizens can seek information regarding the activities of the college by submitting a written request with details like Name, Address, Contact Telephone Number and particulars of the information sought. The reason for seeking information need not be given. The duly signed request may be addressed to the Public Information Officer, IGGDCJ Jammu, along with the required fee of Rs. 10/-. Copies of documents will be charged according to the rate fixed by the Government. If the reply is not received in time or if the information is not given, you can tender appeal to the higher Authority.

📝 How to File an RTI Request

Write your application in English, Hindi or Urdu clearly stating the specific information required along with your Name, Address and Contact Number.

Attach the application fee of Rs. 10/- as a Demand Draft, Indian Postal Order (IPO), or Court Fee Stamp in favour of the Public Information Officer, IGGDCJ Jammu. BPL applicants are exempt from the fee (attach BPL certificate).

Address the application to the Public Information Officer, IGGDCJ, Rehari Chungi, Jammu – 180005 and submit in person or by post during office hours (Mon–Fri, 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM).

Alternatively, file your request online through the RTI Online Portal (rtionline.gov.in) using net banking / UPI for fee payment.

If you do not receive a reply within 30 days, or are unsatisfied with the response, you may file a First Appeal to the First Appellate Authority (FAA) within 30 days of the reply date.
